Hello hello! Today’s post was meant for yesterday, but as you may have seen on my Insta stories, I was out of commission dealing with some head and neck pain (see more on that here). But today I woke up with less pain and feeling READY to get posting about SF Fashion Week. Praise be!
San Francisco Fashion Week is a different animal than the “Big 4” -type shows we see in Paris, New York, London, and Milan. At those events, brands showcase the upcoming season’s pieces, using production companies to organize and coordinate events.
In San Francisco, Fashion Week is run by a non-profit by the same name and functions like a week-long fashion festival. There are runway shows (all over my IG stories, #sorrynotsorry) but there are also parties, networking events, and presentations on the junction between tech, the environment, and fashion. I feel like that is so San Francisco – a little bit against the grain, but always looking forward.
Anyhoodles, since there were a good number of events, I’m breaking the week down into more digestible outfit nuggets, starting with the opening reception and Influencers Night. Sound good?
Opening Reception
The opening reception was a beautifully executed cocktail party at Chambers SF in the City (for non-SF people, we never call it “San Fran” or “Frisco”. EVER. It’s either “San Francisco,” or “the City,” or if you’re writing, “SF”. Just so you know the lingo and you won’t accidentally label yourself as a newb).
I brought along my friend Michelle, one of my college roommates and one of those “up-for-anything-because-life-is-one-big-adventure” type of friends. You know the one. They’re like a unicorn. Once you find one, hang on. And wear a safety harness.

So I totally plastered the dress I wore all over Instagram because I love it that much. It has that menswear vibe but cut for someone with a small waist and hips. And cut for someone who isn’t shy about revealing their décolletage. The benefit of being small- chested is that the décolletage logistics are very straightforward. I threw on a red lace bralette and didn’t worry about my ta tas all night. At the same time, could you imagine how awesome that crystal necklace would be if you had cleavage? Just a thought for the fuller people out there.
Rodrigo calls this dress my “flight attendant dress” and he’s not wrong. It does have a uniform-y vibe. And I’m not mad about it. I took that flight uniform, slapped on some red lipstick and velvet heels, grabbed my purse, and had a fun night out. Wins all around.

Influencers Night
Event #2 for me was Influencers Night, an event hosted by a shop in Hayes Valley called Azalea SF. It was a fun evening for style bloggers to get together, shop a bit, drink champagne, and learn from a panel discussion of seasoned bloggers. I met some AMAZING bloggers, photographers, and designers. So. Much. Fun.
I recruited another ride-or-die friend, Caroline, who I’ve known since middle school! She also works around the corner from Azalea and is a fan, so it was the perfect event to bring her to.
We took some really great photos, although the universe plotted against us and they turned out super pixelated for some reason. Hey, that’s life – sometimes things don’t turn out! They still look great in a smaller format, so I went ahead and made a mini collage (nerd level 10):

So I confess that I don’t like the term “influencer”. It gives me the heebie jeebies. Just dripping with pretentiousness. But I think I’ll have to live with it, since it seems to be more and more engrained in our lexicon. Hmph.

In any case, the outfit: I am in LOVE with this vegan leather skirt. The model name is Jezebel and I’m all about it. High-waisted, high-slit, no nonsense. I admit that I was afraid to bend over because the pleather had a precarious detente with my butt after I stuffed my cheeks in and got ‘er zipped.
The top I got on sale through the Spring app (it’s sorcery, I swear. A shopping app with amazing sales. Check it out. No, this isn’t sponsored. I just like it a lot). The brand is AFRM. Have you guys heard of it? I just discovered it and I love how fashion forward it is, while still flattering to the body. Just saying.
Anyhow, the top has pirate sleeves (not the real name, but look how poofy!), a boat neck, it’s cropped, AND it has mini pom poms. What’s not to love?
The shoes are a classic pump, although the do have transparent PVC panels at the toe and sides that didn’t photograph well – you know, being transparent and all. They’re a great way to tap into the transparent shoe trend without feeling too stripper-y. Lord, I have a way with words today. Thanks for your patience.
There are more photos of the event, including the members of the kick-ass blogger panel discussion, but I haven’t heard back yet from the photographer if I have the green light to post them. When I do, I’ll give you an update!
Stay tuned for more SF Fashion Week posts. They’re brewing away!
Whatcha think?
love
Stig.
