Alright, alright, alright, first things first: I love you, I miss you, I love you, I miss you, I love you, I miss youuuu! YES it’s been too long since I’ve posted – and I’m afraid the Busy Bee Train has kept chugging through June and will likely steam on into July and our little fashion oasis on the web has been left on the sidelines. I’m not wanting to be standoffish or cryptic about what’s been happening in on-blog news in my life, and I hope to write about it here after some loose ends come together. So yes, I’ve been pulled in a million directions in the past weeks, but I have this denim-on-denim ensemble that I just love for a casual, warm summer evening and my little heart just had to share! Who doesn’t love a little summer denim?!

Somehow this look gives me early aughts recording artist vibes – very LA, very casual – yet devoid of the trademark velour jumpsuit or Ugg boots. We avoid a potentially cataclysmic excess of denim (think: Justin and Britney, 2001) by breaking up the shorts and jacket with a ribbed (and metallic!!) sweater.
I got the distressed denim jacket in Brazil years ago (not to mention the shorts, come to think of it) and I use it all the time. It comes down to length: just at the fingertips, it’s perfect to throw over a mini dress or a pair of tiny shorts!
