When I think of Thanksgiving, I think of cozy family gatherings and the joy of having so many people who love each other in one place. Me being me, I also think of a great opportunity for DRESSING (haha, see what I did there?). For the holidays I try to wear something I particularly love, irregardless of how formal or casual the event. There’s a joy to be had there, don’t you think?

Since Thanksgiving is such a family holiday, where you’re running around in the kitchen, washing dishes, moving chairs, and eating pie, a chunky statement sweater is the perfect sartorial counterpart for the day. It’s no fuss, it’s stretchy, and all you have to do is throw on some comfy jeans (with give, because turkey) and some boots and you are D O N E.

Is a ”statement sweater” a thing? Not sure. If there ever was such a thing, this sweater would be it.

We have cable knits running in different directions, bright primary colors, intersecting stripes, and even an asymmetrical hemline. It looks a bit like I raided Aunt Viv’s closet from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. And I’m all about it.

I’m not the only one digging on flamboyant knitwear. A few months ago in the Fall 2018 presentations, oversized, brightly colored sweaters ran up and down the runways.

As I write this, I can almost hear my sister grooooaaaaning all the way from Detroit. She is NOT going to be into this boxy-funky-sweater thing. What about you? Into it or not?
love
Stig.
