Hi all! Writing this from an Uber from Playa Vista on the way to the Burbank airport. I’m tired but happy from a few fun days in Los Angeles. I had forgotten how glitzy everything is, and I nearly jumped out of my skin at some of the menu prices, but man, did we have a good time! And I always love a little glitz.
Speaking of, today I’m posting one of my favorite looks I’ve worn in a long while! My friend Jared and I went to a fashion show last Friday at The Clifton in San Francisco, as part of Fashion Community Week. He’s one of my go-to friends for events like this. Always down for a good time, easy to talk with, and will also encourage me to talk to others (sometimes I need help, ok? Haha). He also is not above going to seedy pizza restaurants and eating at linoleum bars with me in all of our fancy clothes.

I had found this top at Rent the Runway, and loved the giant sleeves and the strapless neckline. For me, it was a challenge to style since it is a longer length. Using jeans underneath would simply excentuate how short my legs are by creating a horizontal line right at the top of my thighs. Not the look I wanted. So to keep the silhouette simple and sleek, I threw on a slip underneath the dress in a creamy satin. The change in texture adds interest, and the similar color palette provides continuity of the silhouette.

This was my first real foray into the “wet hair” look, and I have to say, I was surprisingly happy with the result. I liked that my hair could be down, but off of my shoulders to maximize the effect of the top’s neckline. The “wet effect” (really just lots of product) added an edginess that I feel this look needed. I don’t go for the saccharine-sweet looks. Me being 5’1”, I can look like a creepy ghost-child real quick if things get too frou-frou.

The night ended at a pizza bar on Geary (surprise!) and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
How was your week?
Love
Stig.
