I’ve had my eye on this Self-Portrait dress for awhile now, and finally had the chance to wear it for Fashion Community Week at the Fairmount Hotel in San Francisco!

I love that it’s asymmetrical, that it has a wrap skirt, a touch of lace, animal print, and tons of contrast. It’s interesting that with so much going on in one piece, it somehow comes together effortlessly. If that’s not a hallmark of good design, then I don’t know what is. I find that kind of deceptive simplicity in a lot of Self-Portrait’s designs, and it’s a house that I’m always excited to wear for that reason.

The event was hosted by Fashion Community Week, a San Francisco-based organization that hosts semiannual fashion showcases for small designers. It’s a wonderful way to meet people and get exposed to new design from all around the world.

My friend Cory (also an amazing interior designer, btw) came as my date again this time, and we had a blast! She was so kind as to take a few outfit shots with my iPhone, so we really have her to thank for today’s post.

Unfortunately, what these photos (other than being grainy phone photos) don’t capture are all the fun, goofy, hilarious, and intelligent people we met. At the end of the day, it’s all about the people around you, right? And having a good dress 🙂

If you’d like to see snippets of the runway shows, I made a highlight on my Instagram page – click on “Fash Comm Week” (can you tell I hit a word limit there? haha) and you can see bits of the shows and designers!
Have a wonderful weekend,
love,
Stig.
PS. Remember my last post when we talked about boob tape? And how you must, at all costs, properly prep your skin before you use it? And how I got cocky and thought I could get away with not prepping? And how I mentioned that I allegedly flashed the Fairmont atrium as I descended the staircase?
I found photographic evidence of 0.5 seconds after that moment and I feel that it’s my duty to share it with you here. Note the very artful hand-clutching-the-booby pose:

You’re welcome.
