I am back in the Bay and rested up after last week in LA! I’ll be sharing more in a video coming soon, fingers crossed, but for now I wanted to post my OOTN (outfit of the night) for the first evening. It was the official opening of LAFW, and I assumed – thankfully, rightfully so – that the dress would be scaled up a notch. I found this gorgeous leopard print wrap dress with gold sequins (never were there any more glamorous words put together in a sentence, right?) and my ego and I went to one image: the Golden Goddess. There’s nothing wrong with having aspirations, right?

As with any outfit, balance was key here. There is nothing subtle about sequins or leopard print. I mean, yes, it is fashion week, so in theory, the sky’s the limit! But for me, I always want to dress in a way that rings true to myself and my personal style – which is, as one of my bffs told me – “J. Lo Goes to Church.” So, a little bling, a little constraint, and a lot of tanned skin.

Accessories were basic, to let that leopard print shine (pun intended, pause for laughs). All gold, all subtle, all shiny. The one bummer was that I had the gall to sneeze in the car on the way over, and I busted my gold choker. It didn’t completely break, but one of the chains did. Whoopsie daisy. At least I got a laugh out of it, right?

For hair, I’ve finally discovered that I don’t always have to go through the shampooing and blow drying ordeal to get good volume. This entire week, I used dry shampoo and it was SUCH a time saver. Believe me, I needed every single second of time those days in LA. God Bless Dry Shampoo! Do you use it? I just recently got on the bandwagon, and it’s a great way to save water, your hair, and time. What’s not to love?

To get these waves, I had my hair in a bun all day which is the only way I know of to get my hair to hold a “curl”; and these aren’t even true curls, but they got the job done. I gave it a spritz with some hairspray and called it a day.

Post Update, October 16: I received some photos from the photographer Eric Epperson, who was kind enough to allow me to post them here on the blog!
To my knowledge, these haven’t been edited, so you get the raw cut – yee haw!

I loved this look, and was glad that other LAFW guests gave me positive feedback as well. I mean, what are they going to do, “mean girl” me if they don’t like it? And who on Earth doesn’t like gold sequins and leopard print? Mike Pence?
love,
Stig
