Last Friday, I experienced the perfect confluence of crisp, white pieces in one of my favorite outfits to date. Did it result in me looking like Keanu Reeves at an all white party in Miami? Did my mother text me to make sure I was wearing underpants under that short dress? Yes and yes. I regret nothing.

Where I Wore It (and where you could, too)
I wore this outfit to hang out with my (very fashionable) friend Letty on Friday night. We were supposed to go to Bellota, a fancy restaurant in SOMA, but it was super busy and frankly, we were too hungry to wait. We ended up eating delivery pizza around Letty’s kitchen island, and I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

Were you to wear something similar (and I hope you would), I’d suggest trying it for a night out with friends. If you went with the same concept, but with a less revealing dress, you could easily wear it during the day for a lunch or brunch.

Why It Worked (and why it didn’t)
What made this outfit work – as in almost any other look – is the layering of textures and attention to silhouette. The high boots with the long vest create flow and long lines, while the snakeskin print, ribbed dress, and canvas of the vest create interesting contrasts in textures. I might add that the length of the vest was saving me from worrying about showing off too much of my hiney – thank God for small blessings, am I right?

(An aside – is there an agreed-upon spelling of “hiney”? “Hinie”? “Highnee”? “Heineigh”? Grammarians, chime in.)

If I must say, I felt very chic. Even when running after my Lyft outside the restaurant, with an audience. And even in this moment:
You can find my deer ring on sale here and and the raw aquamarine ring here (both from Moon Magic).
What can I say, you have to set yourself up for success, right? Need a bib? BYOB!

The reality of wearing an all white outfit was:
a.) I was super worried I’d spill;
b.) It definitely stands out in San Francisco, so I had to get used to feeling like people were staring (either in my imagination or in real life); and
c.) I felt amazing. It was that feeling that happens when what you’re wearing on the outside matches exactly how you feel on the inside. There’s nothing like it.

What outfit have you worn that clicked with how you felt? Magical, right?
love,
Stig.
