Note: If you haven’t read last week’s post on concrete ways to join the Anti-Racism Movement, hit the brakes, go back to the home page, and get your sweet self onto that post. Or just click here. It’s way, way more important than a tropical jumpsuit.
So there are a few things happening here: 1. This tropical jumpsuit look is from last Saturday, and honestly I feel that the world is churning with much more urgent issues than a glorified linen romper; and 2. I unintentionally dressed like a Golden Girls cast member, and not only am I not mad, I’m actually a little flattered.

The truth is that some days, when I’m overwhelmed and wracked with migraines and concussive confusion (yes, that still happens), the best I have to give the world is encouragement. There are huge, Earth-shaking movements happening right now that are so much bigger than us.
So don’t stress about your clothes. Buy as responsibly as you can. Dress with respect for who you are and what you’re up to. Scrape up whatever joy you can get. And let the rest go. Then you can focus on using whatever gifts you have for tackling bigger issues.
The Tropical Jumpsuit
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of zipping my bloated, PMS-ing self into this delightful linen jumpsuit from the eco-minded, always fun Brazilian brand, Farm Rio. The agenda of the night was to watch Lucretzia Borgia, which streamed as a part of SF Opera’s Opera is On program through the month of May. If this is your first time on the blog in awhile, welcome, and you should know I’ve used these opera streaming events as an excuse to dress up at home, eat pizza, and watch incredibly talented musicians from all around the world do their thing.

Hence the tropical jumpsuit: I love this thing. A jumpsuit really is a “one and done” kind of outfit, and this one even had pleats, of which I was especially grateful considering my hormone-induced bloat. Sometimes you just want some room for that belly, you know?
With a jumpsuit like this with a loud print, you really don’t have to work hard on accessories. There’s so much happening with the design that going nuts with toppings is frankly unadvisable, unless you want to go with the whole “shock and awe” approach. Stun your fellows with an endless parade of glitz – I won’t stop you.

I also realized that I inadvertently channeled none other than Blanche Devereaux from Golden Girls. A Florida-reminiscent, pleated jumpsuit with puffy sleeves and a slightly whorish back? Call me Blanche! I have reached Style Nirvana.
A Note on FARM Rio: An Eco-friendly Brazilian Brand
This piece was done in linen, and true to all Farm’s work, the detailing was gorgeous. Each button beaded, the seams impeccable, the proportions spot-on. I had the good fortune of discovering this brand in Brazil back in 2009 and was THRILLED to see it finally make it’s way to the US. It’s even over to Rent the Runway!

It is also of note that Farm is eco-minded: for each purchase, the brand donates to the non-profit One Tree Planted, which works to reforest the Mata Atlântica and the Amazon.

I hope this week brings you peace and clarity – especially if you’ve been struggling with recent events here in the US and around the globe. Take care of YOU and know that you’re not alone.
love,
Stig
