Just Because I LOVE This Black and White Outfit Doesn’t Mean I’m a Minimalist

I have NEVER been accused of such a thing *clutches pearls*

And just because I’m not wearing a mask in the photos doesn’t mean I wasn’t wearing one off-camera – safety first, people!! I just didn’t have a mask that matched with this black and white outfit – an oversight on my part – and my turquoise one just popped too much for the look we were going for.

Shirt: Cushnie (similar here, rent here) | Leggings: Love, Fire (although these ones are on sale and are likely better quality) | Boots: Acne (similar here or less expensive here) | Purse: 3.1 Phillip Lim (buy here, rent here)

In any case, tonight I bring you this look from a hang sesh with my friend Kim last week: a black and white outfit that’s anything but minimal. This Cushnie top, with all its asymmetrical, tailored glory, added a poshness to these leather (ok, “leather”) leggings. Paired with square-toed boots – which I totally get are not everyone’s cup of tea, but are very Fashion – it made for an easy yet put-together look. It almost looks like I have my life together, doesn’t it?

Whenever you’re banking on simple colors – e.g., black and white or monochrome – you have total artistic license on silhouette and texture. It’s these two things that add that little something-something, you know? Silhouette and texture add interest and keep the whole production from going blahhhhh. They’re also what keep my maximalist Self from going bonkers with a simple black and white outfit 🙂

And a big thank you to Kim for snapping these outfit pics! She’s done a few OOTD pictures for me – check out this post and this post to see more of her handiwork 🙂

love,
