I know, I know – I said that this was the easiest date night outfit – but trust me when I say that this short suit gives it a run for its money.
The short suit has been everywhere this summer, hasn’t it? In cotton, in tweed, in linen like the one I wore for date night last weekend, in all different cuts and colors, it’s really taken over. There’s a genius to the short suit that I hadn’t appreciated before: it’s SUPER easy to make look good with zero effort, PLUS it’s really versatile. You can wear it most places, dress it up, dress it down, wear the pieces separately – if you want to invest in your wardrobe, there’s an excellent argument for the short suit.

In any case: this weekend, I was exhausted. And bloated. Exhaubloated. Blausted? Whatever. Due to said exhaustion and bloat, my mood had soured and I knew that I needed a break from work and to dress up for Saturday night.

I wanted to feel better, elegant even (and who feels elegant when they’re bloated? Honestly), but anything body-hugging was a no go. Enter: the mens’ shirt, straight from Rodrigo’s closet, and the short suit.

Styling
The trick was to get those shorts rolled up real tiny. Y’all know I like a bit of skank to my swagger, just a skosh, but more important even than that is proportion. Big shirt:small body; big jacket:tiny shorts. You dig?

I want bra-less, because duh, my boobs are so small that the right has never even heard of the left, an indulgence that fed my lazy-day attitude and need for nonrestrictive clothing. I also went for boots, because even though it was 70 degrees F last weekend, it is fall after all. Despite my autumn curmudgeonry, I do sometimes make an effort. If that effort includes tiny shorts.

How do we feel about the short suit? Miami Vice in a good way or in a hell-no way? Chic? Tacky? Wrong answers only.
love,
Stig.
