blue on blue outfit

I’m not saying that the blue on blue look is a political statement (but it’s totally a political statement). I wore this ensemble last Wednesday to run errands and frankly, I was exhausted.

Four days of working the polls in Alameda County had taken their toll. 12- to 15-hour days in a high school auditorium, interacting with voters through layers of masks, face shields, and plexiglass, in the midst of the highest stakes election in our history – guys, I was burnt.

“Burnt” in the way that you’ve worked through something quite monumental and quite possibly triumphed, but you’re so spent that you’re only vaguely aware that something good has happened. And, to be fair, the day after the election we still weren’t at all sure of what the outcome would be.

I have a feeling that you know what I’m talking about, yes? It’s been a long haul, and despite the Cheetoh-in-Chief being elected out of office, we still have a long road ahead.

Hence the blue on blue celebration of cozy that is this outfit of the day. It occurred to me that I was seeking out a specific brand of patriotic hygge, some way of processing and embracing the times while cocooning myself in knitwear.

I hope you find your own way of recuperating and celebrating. It is still 2020, after all, and I have a feeling we’ll still need a fair dose of both.

love,

Stig.
