90s denim zip dress by Finder's Keepers, strappy naked heels, and snakeskin print bag for a fun night out look!

Happy Friday, woot woot! I confess that I woke up with yet another cold and am shaking my fist at the viral underworld that seems to be plotting against me being able to speak without sounding like a 95 year-old smoker.

BUT I still wanted to share this denim zip dress! I wore it to a friend’s bday party at a beer garden in Berkeley. If you’ve ever been to a beer garden in Berkeley, you’ll know that I was a tad bit overdressed. As life rolls forward, I care less and less about “fitting in” and much more about what feels right on my body. Some days, it’s sweatpants, Rodrigo’s t shirt, no bra, and only sunscreen and lip balm on my face. Other days, it’s the Full Vanna White.

One of our friends calls this an up-the-nose shot. He’s not wrong. But it does show the dress off, which is the whole point, potential boogers aside.

Last Friday was one of those days, and I’m so glad it was. Mikhaela, my Bday Girl friend, is ultra-glam – she’s the one who taught me to slightly overline my lips, and I don’t care what the people say, I LOVE it. Safe to say that this outfit was Bday Girl Approved.

Our new place gets this buttery golden light in the evenings and it feels like the biggest luxury!

I have a soft spot for fitted denim dresses. When I was 14, my mom bought me a denim halter dress that fit like a freaking glove. It was one of those things where you put it on, and suddenly feel more you. I wore that thing around the house because I loved it so much. I definitely didn’t have the confidence to wear it to school, though. Oh, how much we grow over 15 years, haha!

This dress is from an Australian brand called Finders Keepers. There are so many Aussie brands that are killing it right now! Their design tends to be super feminine, fun, with a bit of an edge to it, which is why I tend to be drawn to them. This dress is no exception.

Truth be told, I could have sized down here. A size smaller would be a better length for me and would have hugged my hips better. I was sneaky with camera angles here, so you can’t tell much that it was loose at the widest point of my hip. Unfortunately, my closet (ahem, Rent-the-Runway) doesn’t carry tiny people sizes much of the time.

I’m all about that circular, 90’s-via-the-60’s zipper pull!

The bag made me SO happy – it’s from Portuguese design house Marques’Almeida and LET ME TELL YOU that it lights me up inside. It’s an embossed leather in a crazy fun snakeskin pattern and it has a zillion pockets on the inside. The only thing is that my giant iPhone doesn’t fit inside (womp womp). I suppose I could really method-act this whole 90s vibe and use a pager instead.

The rainbow-rock necklace is from another brand I recently discovered, Dannijo. They make beautiful clothes and jewelry! There’s a particular silk slip dress that is stunning that I’d really like to buy, but current budget restraints mean that I’ll have to wait a bit on that. Sigh.

We had a great time that night – reconnected with old friends, made new ones, and stayed way longer than I had planned as a result!

How was your week? Ready for the weekend?

love,

Stig.
