One of the reasons Rodrigo and I came to spend the holidays in Brazil was to celebrate my mother-in-law’s 60th birthday! She has been a huge source of support, love, and joy for all of us and she deserved to have a huge blowout – and that’s what she got.
Did you see the craziness that was my Instagram Stories this weekend? There were more than 50 relatives here and the party lasted for more than 24 hours!
I wasn’t sure if I’d have time to buy clothes for the party once I got to Brazil, so I went on the hunt back home in SF. Unfortunately, not many stores are carrying summertime clothes this time of year! However, the “bad timing” worked well for my wallet. It turns out that stores like Nordstrom Rack are GREAT for buying off-season clothes, which is where I ended up finding this dress. The brand is called ASTR the Label, and I have another top by them that I wore to SF Fashion Week awhile back.
In other, perhaps TMI, news, when I travel I bloat. The only reason I’m sharing this is because 1. You (or at least I) can tell in the photos, and 2. This dress provided ample Room for Bloat. Now you know.
The dress was perfect for the hot, humid, weather and for a long family party. Since it’s very neutral, I wore my fave turquoise earrings (they made an appearance in this post, if you remember) and layered necklaces. Oh, and my gigantic platform sandals 🙂
