sorbet hues for summer 2019

Hello and happy hump day! I made it back from LA safely and am back in action. I hope you had a great weekend and are having a good week so far!

Spring and Summer Color Trends for 2019 and 2020: forget pastels, it's all about a sorbet color palette!

Today I wanted to share an OOTD from awhile back that I really loved – this fun crop top in sorbet colors and dark wash jeans to go out to lunch in Orinda.

It turns out that these colors, a punchier version of pastels, are blazing in from the runways, into stores, and into our closets. I’m liking that designers are creating more unconventional pairings like violet with orange – because anything nearing easter egg colors an get boring pretty fast.

I felt pretty strongly about the whole sorbet color theme. I even made a graphic so you could see what I mean:

There is something vibrant, imaginative, yet soothing about these palettes for me. They also make me crave ice cream, as evidenced by this IG post:

Now you know way too much about my food sensitivities, pistachio ice cream aside.

This look is pretty tame – the light and bright colors are balanced with soft browns and the dark wash of my jeans. HOWEVER, if you wanted to be a super-fashionista, you could push the sorbet tones more with a colored trouser and it’d be spectacular. If you do it, I definitely want to see pics.

You could also do a monochrome look as in last week’s glorified bathrobe post. Come to think of it, that was also a very sorbet look as well.

Are you looking forward to summer clothes and colors? Sorbet? Brights? What’s your flavor?
