Today’s offering is a mini-post of sorts, since next week kicks off Fashion Month and it’s going to be very content-heavy (who’s excited?!? Moi!). So let’s get to it: May I recommend Nicholas maxi dresses? Hear me out.

Last week, my mom and stepdad were in town, which meant lots of delicious family dinners and time together. It’s summertime, and even as we transition into fall, I’ll still find myself reaching for those breezy, fun, and glam pieces that just feel so apropos to family dining at home.
Enter the Australian born, LA-based Nicholas – a brand I barely had on my radar, if I’m honest, until I realized that I kept gravitating towards pieces with their label (like in this post). Their designs are buoyant, slightly bohemian, a tad sexy, all things you could wear barefoot or with stilettos and you’d still feel like an extra in a modern Fellini film. I notice that vibe a lot with Aussie brands, and I’ll never say no to that citrusy, barefoot, tanned, I-may-be-making-bread-in-the-kitchen-or-I-could-be-dancing-in-a-fountain-but-you’ll-never-know kind of look.

To be extra honest, Nicholas is what I’d call a Fancy Brand, meaning you can expect to pay anywhere from $300 to $800 for their clothing. It won’t come as a surprise that I source my Nicholas fixes through Rent the Runway.
But in case you wanted to own a piece for yourself, I’ve selected some options!

Some less expensive brands with a similar aesthetic:
Tobi (under $100), Lulu’s (under $100), BB Dakota (under $100), Privacy Please ($100-$250), Farm Rio ($150-$250) Tularosa ($150-$300), Camila Coelho ($200-$300 – new brand, so not a lot of offerings yet, but the aesthetic is what we’re looking for!).
I highly suggest perusing the Revolve, Lulu’s, and Tobi websites for other options! There’s a lot out there.
Sending you love for your holiday weekend!
love,
Stig.
PS. I’m aware that the first photo is RIDICULOUS, but given my penchant for cheesy, Fellini-esque imagery, I just couldn’t resist. You’re welcome, Internet.
