8 Ways to Style a Skirt Set | 8 Looks Usando Conjunto de Saia e Cropped

Welcome back and thanks for visiting the blog in the midst the pandemic turbulence! Today’s post is a practical, fun take on how to style a skirt set you either already have, or have been tempted to invest in. You know the one – a high-waisted, wiggly midi skirt with a cleanly tailored crop top, the one that pops up at nearly every retailer at every price point, the one that makes you think, I love it, but where would I wear it? Yes, that’s the one.

Not too long ago, a gorgeous take on said skirt set made its way into my closet via RTR and I immediately wore it everywhere (including in this post). Before I packed it up and sent it back, I just had to play around and see how many different outfits I could create with it. It turns out, there is nothing quite as versatile as a two-piece set.

So I’m on TikTok Now

Also: Today’s post comes in TikTok form. YES! I finally joined and have this feeling that I’m clinging to the edge of a wormhole of swirling with many, many hours lost to the joy of dance, bizarre couples’ challenges, and having my data being sold around the internet. Such is life in 2020 (among other things).

The are just so many ways to style this thing – for me, my options were fairly limited, since I’m quarantining at my dad’s house and don’t have my whole wardrobe with me (yes, I know that’s a ridiculous problem to have) and still I was able to come up with a bunch of fun and versatile looks. Since ye olde TikTok only gives us a few seconds, I’ve listed out the outfit combos below!

8 Ways to Style a Skirt Set

  1. Skirt + bodysuit + corset belt + nude pumps = date night
  2. Skirt + sweatshirt in same (ish) color + sneaks = coffee with someone you love
  3. Skirt + velvet corset top + stilettos = nighttime spring wedding
  4. Top + high rise, frayed hem jeans + wrap = brunch
  5. Skirt + white tee = cocktail hour
  6. Top + pantsuit = daytime wedding (buttoned for ceremony, unbuttoned for reception)
  7. Top + distressed denim + sneaks = burger and movie night
  8. Top + longline blazer + wide leg jeans + kitten heels = casual Friday

But we’re in quarantine! we’re all thinking.

Yes. So we are.

So … where might we wear this in quarantine? I have a few suggestions:

  1. Pumping gas (add protective gear)
  2. Doing groceries (add protective gear)
  3. Taking out the trash
  4. Going to the drive through (add protective gear)
  5. Mowing the lawn
  6. Picking up your dog’s 💩
  7. Spying on the neighbors (add binoculars)
  8. Standing on the porch and silently judging the neighbors for not wearing gloves while realizing that you’ve become the type of person who carries latex-based judgements on people she doesn’t know

To be honest, picking up Sici’s poop in stilettos and an HervĂ© LĂ©ger skirt with a zipper down the bum feels way more real right now than wearing it to the opera, doesn’t it? My friend Nnan has been posting hilarious pictures of herself taking out the trash in full glam regalia because there is nowhere else to get dressed up for nowadays – and why the hell not?

Listen, I know most of us (myself included) are living in a fog right now. Some days feel OK, others feel frankly apocalyptic. It can be so hard to embrace life as it is, to let yourself feel everything you may be feeling, and not feel like you’re about to break. We’re all hobbling through this disaster together, even though it is, so much by nature, isolating. Please don’t forget to laugh at little things, to respond to text messages even if you’re a few days late (I’m constantly guilty of text tardiness), get to bed early, wake up with your alarm, and remember that you and your fine butt are here for a reason, even if you can’t see it right now.

Yes?

love,

Stig.
