How’s everyone doing? I realize that’s a loaded question nowadays, and one that becomes increasingly difficult to answer. Personally, life has gone a bit cattywampus, which has unfortunately resulted in fewer than usual blog posts. I have a feeling you’ll understand, and be patient as I wait for the smoke to clear and get back on schedule.

For today, how about a little escapism to The Before Times, when coronavirus was visibly on the horizon, but not yet the fully-fleshed monster on our doorstep? Fashion Community Week in San Francisco was a week ago (on IG I said two, which I’m now realizing is incorrect, although it certainly does feel like two weeks have passed), and every season they host a runway show at the Fairmont Hotel, featuring small designers from all around the world. It’s become one of my favorite events in the City because it’s super well-run, the people are friendly, and you get to see emerging designers you’d otherwise never be able to.
To get a feel for the event, feel free to watch this short IGTV video I posted earlier (no need to have an Instagram account to view). You can read previous Fashion Community posts here, here, and here!

The Skirt Set
I opted for a skirt set paired with a blazer, which worked beautifully. Thank God, because to be honest, this event snuck up on me and I was wholly unprepared. I happened to have this outfit on loan from Rent the Runway for no reason in particular, which was a major lifesaver! It goes to show: get everything in ONE color and you can’t go wrong (until fifteen years from now, when we all inevitably roll our eyes and ask ourselves what we were thinking. But at least for now, you can’t go wrong).

This look would be a breeze to replicate at any price point, as the skirt set (aka co-ord or matching set, should you want to Google it), has made it’s way to what seems like every online retailer. You can also break it up and make different outfits from each piece, so your money goes much farther than with a dress or jumpsuit. I’ll likely do a video on this – your thoughts and suggestions are welcome!

A Note on Content
I had scheduled a slew of great content this month, including LA Fashion Week, but as you needn’t guess, it has all been cancelled! I have a feeling that this will be a time that tests our creativity, right? It’ll be interesting to see how content comes together over the next few weeks in light of all the restrictions on our lives. Buckle up – things will be a little wonky around here for awhile!
How are you holding up?
love,
Stig
