Still dressing up, still staying at home – these Saturday virtual opera viewing sessions have really kept me afloat the past few weeks. As silly as it sounds, having that anchor in my schedule, something fun to look forward to, is the best replica of normalcy I could hope for.

This weekend I opted for a watercolor print dress by Marni. I usually try and pick pieces that force me to see different facets of my personality, be they fun, sultry, badass b*tch, or in this case … a sexy hobby crafter. Don’t I look like I’m about to teach you how to make a bowl out of FIMO to bake in the toaster oven?

What stuck out to me about this dress was … literally what was sticking out of it. We have this beautiful, Coke-bottle, sleek silhouette and the BAM! A pleated underskirt coming ‘atcha, not unlike those tissues our third grade Language Arts teachers always seemed to have stuffed in their sleeves. I loved the raw quirk of it, how structured and messy it was all at the same time.

On Wearing Watercolor
Tie-dye is getting a lot of buzz nowadays, but let’s not forget it’s responsible older sister: watercolor print. Now, with this one there’s a risk of looking “fuddy-duddy,” so I suggest finding pieces that are cut impeccably and fit you VERY well. Keep accessories and hair/makeup sleek and simple. We’re going for a “hot art teacher” look, not a “Professor Trelawney on magic mushrooms” look.

And many thanks to everyone who helped pick out the shoes on Instagram stories! Y’all have expensive taste. No wonder we get along 🙂
love,
Stig
