Bee-bopping in after a hiatus last week (mea culpa!) with this sunshine-infused yellow bodycon look to celebrate spring! To be honest – this is my ideal date night outfit. It smacks of seaside cocktails, after-dinner dancing, and coming home smelling like your sig other’s cologne. The silhouette is spicy, but the colors – bold, primary blue and yellow – lend a certain lightheartedness that the warmer seasons kindle so well.
This faux-fur jacket just cracks me up: there is simply no excuse to take yourself seriously when you’re wearing a sapphire blue muppet pelt, now is there?
A note on selecting a bodycon dress – you may want to look slinky and bendy and lithe, but my advice is to pick a dress that is thick and stiff on the hanger (like a good drink, among other things). Herve Leger is the queen of bodycon brands (yes, I know it was founded by a man, but whatevs), and you can almost stand each dress up without a hanger. They hold their shape that well, and the fabric is always a thick, tight, stretchy knit blend that, if sized correctly, will stick to your hips like naked ladies on mudflaps. The counter-intuitive hitch about sizing is that you generally want to size down, otherwise you may experience bunching and POOF! Your killer silhouette is gone, your skirt is riding up, and you haven’t even had your third Long Island Iced Tea.

Yellow and blue are a classic combo for me – it’s sun and sky, sand and ocean, all the best things about coastal living. What’s there not to love?
